Choosing/Finding a school

This has definitely proven to be more of a challenge than I had realized. I have found 2 potential schools in the Bay Area, East Bay Waldorf School and Waldorf School of the Peninsula. Both seem to be wonderful schools. Both are quite a drive from our home, and both have a tuition that is over $10,000 per year.
I am trying to find 'Waldorf Inspired Schools', which could be a charter school that incorporates many of the Waldorf teaching techniques. But, have come up with nothing locally.
I have also just looked through Charter Schools in general to see if any looked like a good choice for us, and came up with nothing there!

On a positive note, I did find the Bay Area Waldorf Resources website, with some helpful information and list of local groups of Waldorf home schoolers.

Why I've created this blog

Long before I gave birth to my 4 1/2 year old son Shepard I had begun educating myself about child development and education styles. I read books like The Continuum Concept, How Children Learn, and Dumbing us Down (these three classics still hold a place in my bookshelf). The information I learned from these invaluable books made it more and more clear how important choosing the right education for my child would be.
We had chosen to home school Shepard (and any other children we might have), planning to use a Waldorf/Unschooling approach to his learning. But, have also recently become open to the option of Shepard attending a private Waldorf school in our area.

We have only just begun, and have much to learn and experience through this journey into Educating our son using the Waldorf style.

I am planning to educate myself thoroughly on Waldorf Education (I already know a bit, but know there is so much more to learn!)

I plan to begin Home Schooling Shepard this fall. So, I am learning a lot to ready myself for this journey.
